"Those who say it's hard to find the right man,
have never had to find the right dress!"
                                     -Dorothy Parker
I started the SEAMS Couture Fashion House because I love designing,
sewing, embroidery & beading, international styles and vintage clothes.
After a career in New York making costumes and clothes for Major
Motion Pictures, Television, Broadway, and a Celebrity Clientele,
my years of expertise is at your service.
The SEAMS store model is based on boutiques you find in the Major Cities
of Europe or South America.
The Retail Shop is stocked with feel good,
smell good, and good for you products, hand-picked from Independent
Designers, Women owned businesses, and International Women's Craft
Collectives.  Our emphasis is well made clothing, jewelry, and accessories
from ethical anti-sweatshop sources. Eco-chic and Socially Conscious people
should not be style starved!
SEAMS also sells a wide variety of "Dressing Supplies" by Hollywood
Fashion Tape Products, Bubbles Shapers, and Her-Look Industries.  The
same products Harper used on movie sets to make the Stars look so good for
the camera!

SEAMS Custom Wedding and Formal Occasion Gowns can combine
retro details with modern lines, ethnic elements with western styles, and
think-out-of-the-box innovations. We happily customize any style or start
from scratch to design the dress of your dreams.  Traditions are optional!

At SEAMS you're not just a dress size, because each garment is
custom fit to each Client in a series of personal fittings.

Think Global, Shop Local!  All SEAMS gowns are Made in the USA
in our Woman-owned sweatshop-free studio.  We're big fans of
Environmentally Friendly Clothing & have several sources for Hemp,
Peace Silk, and other sustainable fibers for every day or formal occasions as
well as recycled vintage heirlooms into New Wedding Gowns and Christening
Gowns.
All SEAMS Custom Orders are packaged in a Breathe-Air Reusable Gown
Bag on a Recycled Muslin Covered Hanger, or in a Recyclable Dress Box
with Acid-Free Post Consumer Tissue Paper.

The Process:  We ask that you make an Appointment for your Consultation
where we can both go through all the details and design elements of your
dress.  It's best to be as prepared as possible with all your inspirations and
notes, as we schedule back to back appointments!   Repeat consultations are
subject to a fee.
Once we've taken your Measurements and a Deposit of 1/3 of the estimated
cost of your dress, we begin your Muslin for your 1st fitting.  A Muslin fitting
takes about 1 hour and it's your opportunity to try on a rough outline of your
gown before we cut into your fabric.  Design changes can happen during a
Muslin, and it's your chance to make any detail alterations.  Most gowns take
about 3 to 5 Fittings and can last about an hour.  We always have you try it
all on one last time before you leave, and the final payment and sales tax are
due at your final pick up appointment.

Depending on the details and style, fabric choices, etc. we can come up with
an estimate of your cost.  Most simple dresses start at $300, Wedding Gowns
can range from $800. To $5,000., with many averaging around $1500.
SEAMS respects your budget, and will work with you to make something in
your range.  Please note that Custom Orders placed within 8 weeks
of the due date are subject to Rush Fees!  Some orders are simply impossible
to complete in a rush time frame, so it's best to give us as much time
as you can!

Vintage Gown Remaking and Alterations, (such as after you got a good
look at your score from the Filene's Running of the Brides) are estimated on
the complexity of the garment's construction, re-cutting, and addition
of details.  They can often take 3-5 fittings and start at $500.  We
recommend that you have your find professionally cleaned first so that we
can discover any permanent damage and work around it.  Moda in
Winchester is an excellent choice for non-toxic dry cleaning, with a pick up
service!
Tell them SEAMS sent you: 781 756-1812.
We will do Alterations on Gowns bought at other Salons or on the Internet,
and the rates begin at $300. depending on complexity.
